How to Scope a Personalized Video Campaign

By BHuman Editorial TeamPublished

Use this practical checklist to define your audience, recipient data, video approach, and workflow before you generate personalized videos with BHuman.

Start with a clear campaign scope

To scope a personalized video campaign, decide who will receive it, which recipient details belong in the video, what data you need for those details, and how you’ll generate the videos. Write these choices down before preparing a full list.

BHuman campaigns use an AI Studio template and recipient data to generate personalized videos. Each row supplies values for one video, so a small test batch can help you check the setup before you prepare the full campaign.

  • Audience: Who should receive a video, and what makes someone a fit?
  • Personalization: Which details will change from one recipient to another?
  • Data: Where will those values come from, and who will check them?
  • Workflow: Will you upload a batch or connect a supported data source?
  • Test: How will you review a sample before generating the wider batch?

Define the audience and personalization

Keep the audience specific enough that one video template and a small set of variable details make sense for each recipient. Choose only details you can supply reliably in your recipient data.

For example, imagine a sales team preparing a short outreach video that uses each recipient’s first name. The greeting stays in the template; the recipient row supplies only the name that replaces the variable. This is a hypothetical example, not a performance claim.

Prepare clean recipient data

For a CSV or Excel batch, use one column per variable and keep the headers stable. BHuman previews rows so you can map columns to template variables before generation. Start with a small test file rather than uploading the whole list immediately.

Check that every required variable has a matching column and that every row has a value for each mapped variable. Send replacement text only: if the template already says “Hi,” the value should be a name, not the complete greeting.

  • Use clear, consistent column headers.
  • Remove blank values for fields the template requires.
  • Keep fixed wording in the template and variable wording in the data.
  • If your campaign uses background-mode assets, prepare the required URLs or uploads for the relevant rows.

Choose a data and generation workflow

Choose the source that fits how your team works. CSV or Excel is suited to batch generation, quick tests, and one-time lists. Zapier connects supported app events, while Pabbly sends object-style webhook variables. Leadr supports outreach workflows, and the API is for a product or backend that controls generation and delivery.

For API use, plan for account access and production readiness before making it part of a live workflow. BHuman says personalized video through the REST API remains in beta, fresh-account access and several integration details are not fully qualified, and production credential provisioning is on hold pending qualification. The API guide says to confirm your use case with support before production use.

  • Choose CSV or Excel for a manual batch or small test.
  • Choose an automation path when an app event or workflow should trigger generation.
  • Choose the API only when your product or backend needs direct control and your use case is eligible.

Select a video approach and review limits

Plan around the template and video-generation options your campaign will use. In BHuman’s documented campaign setup, you begin with a ready AI Studio template that has a source video and at least one variable, then map data fields to those variables.

If you use the API, Keep Original preserves the original recording outside personalized spoken sections. It supports up to 100 sections per video, each no longer than 10 seconds. Full Script regenerates the whole video; the API documentation lists 480p at one credit and 720p at two credits for that mode. Review the campaign’s estimate in the app rather than assuming every route has the same cost.

Test the workflow before scaling

Before generating the full campaign, check that the source video and data source are attached, required variables are mapped, and each test row contains its mapped values. If using Mini mode, confirm background coverage for every personalized moment; if using timed background segments, check that each row has valid assets.

Generation is asynchronous. The campaign workflow provides result states such as queued, processing, succeeded, failed, and needs review. Review the generated results before relying on them in your next step, and correct validation issues before submitting a wider batch.

  • Preview the input rows and verify each variable mapping.
  • Generate a small test batch and inspect the outputs.
  • Check background coverage and any extra campaign settings you use.
  • For API workflows, save returned generation IDs and monitor results; do not blindly repeat a paid submission after a timeout.

Campaign-scoping checklist

Use this checklist to turn your scope into a handoff your team can review before generation. It is a planning aid, not an interactive tool.

  • Audience and eligibility are defined.
  • The template’s personalized details are limited to fields you can provide.
  • Recipient columns or payload fields are named and mapped consistently.
  • Required fields have values in every test row.
  • The data source fits the team’s batch or automation workflow.
  • Video mode, background needs, and any extra settings are decided.
  • A small test has been reviewed before expanding the campaign.
